“I’m Not Coming!” – Speed Darlington Defiantly Snubs NAPTIP Summons

Controversial Entertainer Demands ₦2.5m Appearance Fee, Accuses Agency of “Social Media Clout Chasing”

Nigerian musician and internet personality Speed Darlington has sparked fresh controversy after boldly refusing to honor a summons from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), declaring he’s done nothing wrong and won’t be “used for clout.”

In a fiery Instagram video posted Monday, the 41-year-old entertainer – known for his eccentric online persona – dismissed the agency’s allegations as baseless while setting his own terms: a ₦2.5 million appearance fee if they want him to show up.

“This video is for NAPTIP. Take down those wanted posters! I’m not coming. You hear me? I’m not coming,” Darlington declared, his signature dramatic delivery in full force. “All I did was speak. Irresponsible is not a crime.”

The “Akwaowo” singer accused the anti-trafficking agency of manufacturing drama for social media points, challenging them to produce evidence of wrongdoing: “Where is your evidence? Who is the complainant? You want to use me to collect social media clout? ‘Hey, look at us. We summoned a celebrity and he came.'”

This latest outburst adds another chapter to Darlington’s history of online controversies, where his unfiltered commentary often walks the line between entertainment and provocation. His refusal to comply with a government agency’s summons – while demanding celebrity treatment – has divided fans, with some applauding his defiance and others questioning his judgment.

As of press time, NAPTIP has not publicly responded to Darlington’s video challenge. One thing’s certain – whether in music or controversy, Speed Darlington remains determined to do things his own way, at his own price.
