Interior Minister Highlights New Innovations for Improved Service Delivery

Tunji-Ojo Commits to Seamless Services for Nigerians and Investors Without Compromising Security

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has emphasized that recent innovations introduced by the Ministry are aimed at providing seamless services to Nigerians and investors, while maintaining national security. This statement was made during a meeting with the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), led by its President, Davidson Alaribe.

Tunji-Ojo noted that while there is still room for improvement, particularly in the passport acquisition process, a new contactless passport solution will soon be implemented. This will allow Nigerians to renew their passports without having to visit passport offices, making the process more efficient and user-friendly.

The Minister also expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with ICAN to enhance workforce optimization and service delivery across the Ministry and its agencies.

In his remarks, ICAN President Chief Davidson Alaribe praised the Minister for the modernization efforts in Nigeria’s passport offices, which have simplified the process of obtaining and renewing passports. He highlighted the Minister’s commitment to reforming the Immigration and Civil Defence Corps, as well as modernizing public sector safety measures, which have significantly improved border control, national security, and service efficiency.

“The Minister’s leadership in digitization, especially in e-passport services and visa reforms, has streamlined business operations and strengthened Nigeria’s international relationships,” Alaribe added.

The Ministry of Interior’s ongoing reforms are seen as a crucial step towards enhancing the country’s service delivery framework and improving its global standing.
