Thursday, April 11, 2024, Declared as a Day of Festivity and Celebration
In a recent development, the Federal Government has officially sanctioned Thursday, April 11, 2024, as an extra public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.
A succinct announcement was released early Tuesday morning by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, conveying the approval.
The statement referenced Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, who echoed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to fostering a secure and prosperous environment in Nigeria, ensuring prosperity for all citizens.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, while extending felicitations to the Muslim Ummah for successfully concluding a month of spiritual renewal, reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) steadfast commitment to creating a safe and flourishing Nigeria for everyone,” read the statement.
Initially, the Federal Government had announced Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to observe the festivities. However, due to the non-sighting of the crescent moon on Monday, it was decided that Wednesday would be designated as Eid-El-Fitr, prompting the approval of an additional holiday on Thursday for continued celebration and enjoyment.
