Jurgen Klopp Set for New Role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer

Former Liverpool Manager to Oversee Coaching and Player Development Across Red Bull’s Football Clubs Starting January 2025

Legendary Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a new challenge ahead, as he is set to become the “Global Head of Soccer” for the Red Bull group, beginning January 1, 2025. According to Sky Sports Deutschland transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Klopp has signed a long-term contract with Red Bull, marking his return to football in a strategic management role after a hiatus since leaving Liverpool earlier this year.

Klopp stepped down from his role at Anfield in the summer, citing burnout and a desire for a new challenge. He committed to taking a year off from coaching and has now fulfilled that promise by transitioning into a global management position rather than a return to the sidelines.

In his new role, Klopp will advise all Red Bull football clubs—including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino, and Japan’s Omiya Ardija—on various aspects of the game. His responsibilities will include shaping the clubs’ coaching philosophies, player development strategies, and overseeing transfers for both talents and head coaches.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull Global Soccer, was reportedly determined to bring Klopp on board, seeing him as a key figure to drive the group’s footballing ambitions. However, Klopp’s deal includes an exit clause, allowing him to take charge of the Germany national team should the opportunity arise.

Red Bull has been pursuing Klopp for months, and starting in January, he will bring his vast experience and global networks to the organization, guiding the future of its football operations.
