Kanayo O. Kanayo Reveals Dark Secrets of Nollywood on Popular Podcast- Speaks Out About Homosexuality and “Sex-for-Roles” in the Film Industry

Famed Nigerian actor Kanayo O. Kanayo recently made shocking revelations during his appearance on Nedu Wazobia’s popular podcast, “The Honest Bunch.” In his candid interview, the veteran actor discussed the hidden issues within Nollywood that have hindered the industry’s growth.

During his chat with Nedu and the podcast team, Kanayo shared his thoughts on the rampant issue of homosexuality in the movie industry. He also voiced concerns about the influx of young women gaining roles through dubious means, highlighting the “sex-for-role” practices that compromise the integrity of the craft. Kanayo emphasized that true acting talent cannot be achieved through shortcuts or manipulation; it is an art that requires innate ability and hard work.

Reflecting on his career, Kanayo expressed his passion for acting and his desire to continue working well into his 90s or beyond. His interview comes shortly after he publicly accused teenage actress Angel Unigwe and her mother, manager Juliet Unigwe, of violating a contractual agreement. According to Kanayo, Angel left a filming contract with his production company prematurely due to her mother’s intervention.

Kanayo urged Nollywood producers to avoid working with the young actress and threatened to disrupt any future shoots involving her. His revelations have sparked significant discussions within the industry, shedding light on the urgent need for reforms in Nollywood.
