The “Buga” hitmaker took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to announce he’d successfully retrieved his masters from former label G-Worldwide after years of legal battles and personal struggles.
“From long nights in the studio to several meditations, finally, I now own every song on the ‘New Era’ album 2016 + ‘Yeba’ & ‘Sofa’ (singles),” the elated singer wrote. “I got my masters back. This means more than words can explain. Thank you for riding with me.” Fans quickly flooded the post with celebratory messages, recognizing the significance of an artist reclaiming control of their early work.
Originally released under G-Worldwide in May 2016, New Era launched Kizz Daniel’s career with smash hits like “Woju” before a bitter 2017 split led to lawsuits. In a surprising twist, the artist later appointed his former label boss Emperor Geezy as CEO of his own Flyboy I.N.C imprint in 2023—a move that appears to have paved the way for this resolution.
