Kylian Mbappe’s Move to Real Madrid in Doubt Over Salary Clash

Real Madrid’s Pursuit Faces Hurdles as Mbappe’s Wage Demands Spark Concerns

Kylian Mbappe’s anticipated transfer to Real Madrid is facing a serious setback as negotiations hit a roadblock over the striker’s hefty wage demands. The public pursuit by Real Madrid for the PSG star is now in jeopardy due to reported disparities in salary expectations, potentially derailing the summer transfer that seemed imminent for 2024.

Mbappe’s contract with PSG is set to expire this summer, and Real Madrid, having been on the brink of signing the 25-year-old two years ago, was hopeful of securing his signature. However, the French international is reportedly seeking a substantial wage package of £60 million per year along with a signing-on bonus of £107 million. This demand is nearly double what Real Madrid is willing to offer.

Last year, Mbappe appeared to be on his way out of Paris after confirming that he wouldn’t be extending his contract. Despite activating a clause allowing him to stay for an additional 12 months, PSG accepted a record £259 million bid from Al-Hilal, which Mbappe rejected. A change in management and a renewed focus on Mbappe by PSG has kept him in France for now.

The Ligue 1 champions are reportedly preparing a lucrative offer of £86 million per season to retain Mbappe, who recently expressed uncertainty about his future. The player stated, “I haven’t made my decision,” emphasizing his commitment to protect all parties involved and maintain the club’s serenity.

The development in negotiations has also caught the attention of Liverpool, who have long been linked with Mbappe. Although his wage demands pose a challenge for Liverpool, the potential collapse of the Real Madrid deal could prompt the Premier League side to consider an initial loan offer.

Should Mbappe leave PSG, he will depart without achieving his ambition of winning the Champions League with the club, having played in the 2020 final against Bayern Munich, where PSG suffered a 1-0 defeat.
