New Signings and Key Players Included in Lineup
Manchester United have unveiled their squad for this afternoon’s pre-season friendly against Rangers, making significant decisions regarding new signing Leny Yoro and winger Jadon Sancho.
United recently completed the signing of 18-year-old French defender Yoro from Lille for an initial fee of £50 million. Yoro, who did not participate in Euro 2024 or the Olympics, is set to make his debut for the club.
Sancho, who had been re-integrated into the first team following positive discussions with manager Erik ten Hag last Friday, is also included in the squad. This marks an end to the public dispute over Sancho’s training performances from last summer.
With players gradually returning from international duty and others like Harry Maguire and Tyrell Malacia recovering from injuries, Ten Hag had multiple selection considerations. However, both Yoro and Sancho are expected to play their first minutes of pre-season in today’s match.
Amad Diallo and Andre Onana, who missed the 1-0 defeat to Norwegian side Rosenborg, are also included in the squad. However, Victor Lindelof, Antony, and Marcus Rashford are absent due to ‘minor niggles.’
Scott McTominay, who returned from Euro 2024 after Scotland’s group stage exit, is not yet ready to play. Maguire, who missed the Euros due to injury, and Malacia, recovering from a long-term injury, are also unavailable.
