Manchester United Plans Major Summer Transfers and Exits

New Signings and Departures Expected to Transform Squad

Manchester United is gearing up for a busy summer in the transfer market, with the club planning to make significant signings and departures in the next seven to 10 days. The first expected signing is Joshua Zirkzee, but the club’s plans extend far beyond this initial move.

After a disappointing 2023/24 season, where they finished eighth in the Premier League but won the FA Cup, Manchester United is looking to strengthen their squad. Raphael Varane has already left as a free agent, and Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire may also be on their way out.

To fill these gaps, United is targeting several new players. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite was a top target, but his £70m price tag proved too high. Instead, United is focusing on Bayern Munich’s Matthijs De Ligt and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee. Both players have agreed to join, with De Ligt’s transfer expected to cost around €60m and Zirkzee’s €40m.

De Ligt, who has turned down offers from Liverpool and PSG, is willing to take a pay cut to join United. Zirkzee’s deal is also close to completion, with the striker set to earn £100,000 a week.

In addition to De Ligt and Zirkzee, United is also considering other signings. These include Lille’s Leny Yoro and several midfielders such as Joao Neves, Manuel Ugarte, Amadou Onana, and Adrien Rabiot.

To balance the books, United plans to sell several high-profile players. Mason Greenwood is likely to move to Marseille, and Casemiro could join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay are also on the transfer list, with McTominay potentially moving to Galatasaray or Fulham.
