Former Everton executive suggests Salah’s transfer to the Middle East is imminent
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s talisman since 2017, is reportedly on the verge of a move to the Saudi Pro League, according to former Everton chief Keith Wyness. Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness revealed that while Liverpool are trying to control the narrative, the Egyptian winger’s departure appears to be on the cards.
A Glittering Liverpool Legacy
Salah has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success over the years, contributing significantly to their Premier League and Champions League triumphs. The 31-year-old is currently the sixth-highest scorer in Premier League history with 165 goals.
Despite being targeted by Saudi clubs for some time, Salah has remained focused on his duties at Anfield. However, as speculation intensifies, it seems Liverpool may be preparing for life without their star winger.
Wyness’ Claims on Salah’s Future
“Liverpool will be managing this,” Wyness stated. “They’ll be having discussions with [Trent] Alexander-Arnold, [Virgil] Van Dijk, and Salah in the background. But I’m hearing that, finally, Salah will be off to the Middle East. That is what I am being told.
“Liverpool are managing the media spin. [Arne] Slot will have a much stronger opinion on these matters, and his voice will be heard on these issues more and more after his good start.”
Preparing for a New Era
Liverpool appear to be strategizing for Salah’s eventual exit, reportedly scouting replacements for the right-wing position. While the club would ideally keep Salah indefinitely, the reality of his age, contract duration, and external offers makes a move increasingly likely.
