Music Promoter Sam Larry Claims Unfulfilled Agreement with Late Mohbad

In a recent development surrounding the tragic death of Nigerian singer Mohbad, music promoter Sam Larry has come forward with claims that he paid the late artist the sum of 2 million naira for a performance that never took place. According to reports, Sam Larry is now in the custody of the Nigerian police force, and details of his statement have emerged.

In his statement, Sam Larry revealed, “Two years ago, I gave N2 million to Mohbad to perform at my mother’s annual remembrance concert in Ikorodu.” He continued, stating that Mohbad failed to show up, citing illness and later claiming to have lost money and his phone during an NDLEA raid. Mohbad allegedly mentioned financial constraints after leaving Marlian Records and expressed an inability to repay the amount.

The situation escalated when Sam Larry discovered Mohbad having a music video shoot near his residence. An argument ensued, during which Mohbad’s friend reportedly affirmed the intention to repay the debt. However, no reimbursement has been made since the incident in early last year.

Sam Larry, who has been away in Kenya since August 20th, expressed surprise at the news surrounding Mohbad’s demise, stating, “I don’t know anything other than what was written in the blogs and the press. I don’t even know where he lives.”

Clarifying his position, Sam Larry emphasized that he knows nothing about Mohbad’s movements, the circumstances of his death, or any details about nurses, doctors, or hospitals involved. He concluded, “I came here willingly and happily. I know nothing about how the musician died.”
