Napoli Striker Victor Osimhen Sets Sights on Premier League Amid Galatasaray Loan

Napoli Director Confirms Striker’s Desire to Exit Amid Loan to Galatasaray

Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has revealed that Victor Osimhen no longer wishes to play for the club, paving the way for a potential move to Chelsea or another Premier League side in the future. Despite Osimhen’s ambitions for a permanent transfer, he has agreed to a loan deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Osimhen, 25, was previously close to securing a move to Chelsea, but personal terms could not be agreed upon.

Paris Saint-Germain also reached a contract agreement with the Nigerian international, but refused to meet Napoli’s €130 million valuation. With a permanent move off the table, the loan to Galatasaray emerged as a solution, albeit not one originally planned by either party.

“Osimhen’s situation influenced us. He himself had expressed his desire that he no longer wanted to play for Napoli and that he really wanted to leave,” Manna told CRC, as reported by ArenaNapoli. “Initially, the conditions for a transfer were not there. At that point, we were missing a striker. We needed someone with different characteristics who could solve the coach’s needs: hence the decision to accelerate for Romelu Lukaku.”

Manna admitted that allowing Osimhen to join Galatasaray on loan was a difficult decision, made only after extensive discussions. “It was an opportunity,” he said. “They approached us as soon as the summer transfer window shut. At the beginning, we weren’t open to the idea. We didn’t want a loan. After talking to the player, we found a satisfactory solution for everyone. We wanted to sell him, but that wasn’t the case.”

The saga surrounding Osimhen’s future cast a shadow over Napoli’s summer transfer market, which Manna described as “tainted” by the affair. However, the loan move includes a break clause, which could see Osimhen make a switch to the Premier League as early as mid-season.

Osimhen is expected to make his debut for Galatasaray in the upcoming clash against Fenerbahce, as both the player and Napoli look ahead to potential developments in the January transfer window.
