Nedu Wazobia Steps Down from The Honest Bunch Podcast Amid Controversy

Media Personality Cites “Personal Toll” and “Unfounded Accusations” as Reasons for Exit

Nigerian media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has announced his departure from The Honest Bunch podcast, following a wave of controversy sparked by a recent episode featuring comedian Deeone. The episode, which included allegations about social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), led to a heated exchange and accusations that ultimately influenced Nedu’s decision to step away.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Friday, February 14, Nedu explained that the growing scrutiny and personal attacks had become too much to bear. “The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me,” he wrote. “Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll.”

The controversy began when Deeone, a guest on the podcast, claimed that VDM was attracted to men. In response, VDM accused Nedu of persistently inviting him to appear on the show since 2024, even allegedly offering to buy him a car as an incentive. VDM further alleged that Nedu’s repeated attempts to get him on the podcast were the reason behind Deeone’s claims.

VDM also issued a stern warning through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, threatening to expose alleged dealings involving female celebrities if Nedu continued to push the matter. This escalation added fuel to the fire, drawing widespread attention and criticism.

In his statement, Nedu emphasized that his decision to step down was not made lightly but was necessary for his well-being and the integrity of the podcast. “In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast,” he said. “This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best path forward.”

Nedu expressed hope that his departure would bring an end to the negativity surrounding his name and allow The Honest Bunch to continue its mission. “I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the controversy and allows the podcast to continue thriving,” he added. “I remain committed to fostering dialogue in ways that encourage meaningful engagement and growth, and I look forward to new opportunities that align with that vision.”

As fans and followers react to Nedu’s exit, the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges media personalities face in navigating controversial topics and public scrutiny. For now, Nedu’s departure marks the end of an era for The Honest Bunch, leaving many to wonder about the future direction of the popular podcast.
