Vows to recover stolen donations intended to transform lives of underprivileged children.
Nigerian activist and humanitarian Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), has shared a heartbreaking setback in his mission to create meaningful change. The passionate advocate recently revealed that his NGO account, which had accumulated over ₦200 million in donations, was hacked, with ₦160 million stolen in a cyber heist that left him devastated.
A Shocking Blow to a Noble Vision
The stolen funds were part of VDM’s ambitious project to build schools for underprivileged children, a cause that resonated deeply with donors, including prominent celebrities. The initiative, which promised access to basic education for countless children, had become a symbol of hope for a brighter future.
In a video shared on his official Instagram page on December 27, a visibly distraught VDM recounted the chilling moment he discovered the breach. Despite the enormity of the loss, he vowed to fight relentlessly to recover the stolen funds and continue his work.
Determined to Seek Justice
VDM revealed that he has launched a comprehensive investigation into the cyber theft. In the video, he was accompanied by a security operative as they traveled to Jos, a critical location in the ongoing effort to track down the suspected perpetrators.
Before going public, VDM had taken measures to address the breach, including shutting down the account app in an attempt to resolve the issue discreetly. However, the magnitude of the theft and the need for transparency compelled him to inform his supporters.
Community Rallies Around VDM
The revelation has sparked an outpouring of sympathy and support for VDM, whose dedication to transforming lives has inspired many. While the setback is significant, his resilience and determination to recover the funds underscore his unwavering commitment to his cause.
As the investigation unfolds, supporters remain hopeful that justice will be served and that VDM’s mission to bring education to underprivileged children will prevail.
