Davido Drops Charges, Allowing Reconciliation Between the Two Artists
Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from police custody nearly a week after being detained for defaming his colleague, Davido. The controversy began days before Davido’s wedding when Dammy Krane accused the singer of being a murderer and claimed that Davido was only marrying Chioma because she caught him cheating.
The accusations quickly escalated, prompting Davido’s legal team to issue a 24-hour ultimatum for Dammy Krane to retract his statements from social media and cease any further defamatory publications. Failure to comply would have led to legal action. Last week, Dammy Krane was arrested and faced potential criminal charges for his slanderous statements.
However, in a turn of events, Davido decided to drop all charges, leading to Dammy Krane’s release. In a video shared online, Dammy Krane made his first public statement, expressing gratitude to his brother, Very Dark Man, for his support. He acknowledged that he had said things that shouldn’t have been said and offered an apology.
Dammy Krane also emphasized that despite the dispute, Davido remains his brother, and they are working toward resolving their differences. “I want to say a big thank you to my brother, Very Dark Man. I know you all weren’t expecting it. I know there were many words that ought not to be said, I apologize for this Tagbo-death allegation and all that. Make una still remember Davido is still my brother, and we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,” Dammy Krane stated.
The two artists have had a rocky relationship for years, with Dammy Krane accusing Davido of owing him money. Davido responded by highlighting the support he had provided to Dammy Krane in the past, including offering him accommodation when needed. Despite this, Dammy Krane maintained that the debt remained unpaid, leading to ongoing tensions.
The situation escalated further when Dammy Krane accused Davido of attempting to kill him during an altercation at a Lagos nightclub late last year. Now, with Davido dropping the charges, there is hope that the two can finally find common ground and resolve their differences.
