Singer Reveals Details of Altercation and Why Legal Action Wasn’t Pursued
Controversial Nigerian singer and songwriter, Dammy Krane, has shed light on why he chose not to press charges against Ayodeji “Wizkid” Balogun over a violent altercation that occurred in 2016.
The incident, which occurred at the Quilox nightclub, stemmed from a long-standing feud between the two artists, dating back to allegations of music idea theft by Wizkid about nine years ago.
According to Dammy Krane, the confrontation escalated when Wizkid allegedly attacked him with a bottle during their encounter at the popular nightspot. Despite the physical altercation, Dammy Krane refrained from involving the authorities at the time.
The issue resurfaced recently when Dammy Krane engaged with a fan of Wizkid on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter). The exchange prompted Dammy Krane to recall the details of the incident, revealing that influential figures like Shina Peller and Obafemi Martins (Obagoal) intervened to prevent legal action against Wizkid.
In his response to the fan’s taunt, Dammy Krane asserted that he still holds the power to pursue legal action against Wizkid if necessary, emphasizing the support he received from Peller and Martins during the altercation.
Dammy Krane’s revelation provides insight into the longstanding tensions between the two artists and underscores the complexities of their relationship within the Nigerian music industry.
