Runner-up at Miss Universe 2024 highlights the power of unity and resilience
Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss Universe competition, has shared a heartfelt message of gratitude following her historic achievement as the first runner-up at Miss Universe 2024.
The grand finale, held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, culminated in a nail-biting showdown between Adetshina and Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig. In the end, Theilvig claimed the title, succeeding Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
Adetshina’s achievement marked a significant moment for Nigeria on the global stage. After the event, she took to Instagram to reflect on her journey and thank her supporters for their unwavering encouragement during both triumphs and challenges.
“You Gave Me Strength”
Addressing her fellow Nigerians, Adetshina revealed the depth of their impact on her life and success:
“To Nigeria: THANK YOU is not enough for all the support you’ve shown. You picked me up when I was at my lowest. On days I never wanted to fight, you gave me the strength to fight. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you for walking this journey with me.”
She also extended her appreciation to the entire African continent, acknowledging the collective support that fueled her determination:
“To Africa: Thank you for showing your love and support. As much as I represent Nigeria, Africa fought for me. This journey has taught me the power of unity. I want us to live in a society where we can all accept and celebrate one another.”
