Godwin Nnadiekwe suffers internal bleeding from unscripted violent kick during filming, production team fails to provide assistance
A shocking incident on a Nollywood film set has left actor Godwin Nnadiekwe hospitalized with serious injuries after fellow star Zubby Michael delivered a brutal, unscripted kick to his chest. The violent altercation, caught on camera, has sparked outrage across Nigeria’s film industry and raised urgent questions about safety protocols on movie sets.
A Dangerous Departure from the Script
In emotional Instagram posts, Nnadiekwe revealed he suffered internal bleeding from the unexpected attack during what should have been a routine filming day. “This wasn’t part of the script or directed by our producer,” the injured actor wrote. “I’ve been in excruciating pain, forced to seek expensive medical treatment completely on my own – with zero assistance from our production team.”
A circulating video shows the disturbing moment in chilling detail: Michael exits a vehicle, suddenly launches a flying kick at Nnadiekwe’s torso with full force, then casually walks away as his colleague doubles over in pain.
Industry Safety Under Scrutiny
Nnadiekwe’s management team confirmed his condition deteriorated, requiring emergency hospitalization. “He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following the on-set incident,” they stated, while fans flooded social media with prayers for his recovery.
The actor used his ordeal to spotlight dangerous gaps in Nollywood’s workplace protections: “When we work without insurance policies or basic first aid, unplanned violence – even if ‘accidental’ – can have devastating consequences. What if this had been even worse? Our health must come before any scene.”
Outrage and Unanswered Questions
As the video spreads, colleagues and fans demand answers:
- Why did Michael deviate so violently from the script?
- Why did production fail to provide immediate medical support?
- Where were the safety supervisors during this dangerous stunt?
The Actors Guild of Nigeria has yet to comment, but pressure mounts for industry-wide safety reforms. For now, the focus remains on Nnadiekwe’s recovery – and whether one of Nollywood’s biggest stars will face consequences for actions that crossed far beyond the boundaries of performance.
