NYSC Set to Empower Corp Members with Business Funds

WANNUNE, BENUE STATE – The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.- Gen Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, recently announced that the scheme is taking a significant step to empower its corps members by providing funds for their business ventures. This encouraging initiative was disclosed during an address to Corps members at the Benue State Orientation Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.

General Ahmed highlighted the NYSC’s collaboration with various stakeholders who are ready to offer loans to the young men and women to kickstart their entrepreneurial pursuits. The move is aimed at fostering financial independence among the corps members and supporting their business ideas.

During his address, the DG urged the Corps members to serve their country as exemplary representatives of their families, institutions, and the NYSC. He emphasized the importance of upholding the core values and principles of the Scheme, which include patriotism, selflessness, and loyalty to constituted authorities.

Furthermore, General Ahmed advised the corps members to engage positively with their host communities and leave a lasting impact by creating good memories. He encouraged them to participate in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) post-camp training, where they can equip themselves with essential skills for their future endeavors.

“Be ready to participate in SAED post-camp training and equip yourselves with skills that will make you financially independent,” said the DG. “We have partnered with many stakeholders that will give you loans that will enable you to finance your business ideas. Protect your integrity, be diligent, adhere to NYSC dress code, and be security conscious at all times.”

In response to the DG’s empowering message, Abe Dankaro Ashumate, the NYSC Benue State Orientation official, commended the Corps members for their high enthusiasm and discipline since their arrival at the camp. As the program progresses, the NYSC continues to demonstrate its commitment to the growth and development of Nigerian youth, fostering a sense of responsibility and entrepreneurship among the country’s future leaders.
