The devastating incidents prompted the authorities to take swift action and address the pressing concerns surrounding these dangerous products.

According to reports, the government received distressing accounts of eleven severe illnesses and eight fatalities, all directly linked to the consumption of locally brewed alcoholic beverages. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, issued a statement to journalists in Abeokuta, urging residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid consuming any alcoholic products that have not been approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

One of the reported incidents occurred in Ogbogbo, Ijebu North East area of the state, where six individuals tragically lost their lives after allegedly consuming these hazardous alcoholic drinks.
