PARIS – The much-anticipated transfer of Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) seems to be on the verge of completion, with the player reportedly giving the green light to the deal. The French forward has been linked with a move to PSG for several months, and the club wasted no time in triggering his €50m (£43m/$54m) release clause earlier this week.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dembele has agreed to the proposed transfer, putting the deal in motion. However, PSG must act swiftly to finalize the specifics, as the player’s release clause is set to increase to €100m (£86m/$108m) on August 1.
Dembele’s current contract is set to expire in June 2024, making him a sought-after asset in the transfer market. With the departure of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and the potential exit of Kylian Mbappe, PSG is keen to bolster their attacking options this summer. Dembele is set to become PSG’s third attacking signing of the transfer window, alongside Marco Asensio and Lee Kang-In.
As the clock ticks toward the August 1 deadline, PSG’s management will work diligently to finalize the deal’s structure and ensure everything falls into place before the release clause’s increase. Fans are eagerly anticipating the completion of Dembele’s move to the Parisian club, and his arrival is expected to inject further potency into PSG’s already formidable attacking lineup. The club’s pursuit of top talent continues, with hopes of maintaining their status as a dominant force in both domestic and European competitions.
