Paul Pogba Departs Juventus by Mutual Agreement

Former World Cup Winner Looks Ahead to New Chapter After Contract Termination

Paul Pogba and Juventus have parted ways, with both sides mutually agreeing to terminate the French international’s contract. Originally set to run until 2026, Pogba’s deal will now end on November 30, leaving him a free agent.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who has faced a turbulent year marked by a doping ban, has been linked with a potential move to Inter Miami. His suspension, initially set at four years, was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last month. Pogba will be eligible to return to play in March 2025.

Pogba Reflects on His Time at Juventus

In an emotional statement, Pogba expressed his gratitude to Juventus and its fans:

“It has been a privilege to pull on the shirt of the bianconeri and to share so many special moments together. I cherish the memories we made. They live on.
Even in the most difficult moments over the past year, your support was crucial, and I want to thank Juve fans around the world for their compassion.
It has been a pleasure to experience so many great moments with my teammates over the years, and I wish them every success in the future. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career and stepping out on the pitch with my next club.”

Juventus also released a statement acknowledging the midfielder’s departure:

“Juventus Football Club and Paul Pogba announce that they have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of their contract as of November 30, 2024.
The club wishes Paul the very best for his professional future.”

Challenges and Legacy

Pogba’s recent career was overshadowed by his doping ban, stemming from testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in September 2023. The CAS ruling noted that his use of the prohibited substance was unintentional and the result of mistakenly consuming a supplement prescribed by a Florida-based doctor.

Despite these challenges, Pogba’s football legacy remains significant. After beginning his senior career at Manchester United, he joined Juventus in 2012, where he won four consecutive Serie A titles. His return to United in 2016 for a then-record £89 million transfer fee was followed by a triumphant second stint with Juventus, though injuries and setbacks limited his impact.

Pogba’s international career is equally notable, capped by a standout performance in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, where he scored the third goal in France’s 4-2 victory over Croatia.

As Pogba prepares for the next phase of his career, fans worldwide will be eager to see where the gifted midfielder lands next.
