French midfielder set for return to football in March after doping ban; Marseille move likely.
Paul Pogba is reportedly in advanced negotiations to join French club Marseille as his time at Juventus appears to be nearing its end. The 31-year-old midfielder, who has been serving a doping ban, is expected to return to football in March 2024, according to reports from the Express Sports
Pogba was initially handed a four-year suspension after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone, a banned substance.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his ban to 18 months, allowing him to resume his career earlier than anticipated. He has already been sidelined for 14 months, during which Juventus reportedly lost confidence in him continuing with the club, especially under new manager Thiago Motta.
Reports suggest that Pogba is in extensive talks with Marseille, where he could potentially reunite with former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood, who recently joined the French club. Ivorian outlet NCI claims that Pogba is likely to terminate his contract with Juventus and could be ready to sign with a new club in the winter transfer window, with Marseille seen as a likely destination.
Pogba will be allowed to resume training in January 2024, as he prepares for his return to competitive football.
