Popular Prankster Zfancy Arrested by Nigerian Police

Influencer Taken into Custody Over Controversial Prank

Popular prankster and influencer Zfancy, whose real name is Ubani Zion, has been arrested by the Nigerian police. Zfancy was taken into custody around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja.

The police confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, saying it was related to one of Zfancy’s pranks. The prank, which involved a fake ritualist act, led to accusations on social media that he was involved in real rituals.

The Nigerian Police Force, through the NPF National Cybercrime Centre, stated: “Mr. Ubani Zion Chibuike (AKA Zfancy) was arrested at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja. This follows the circulation of accusatory videos on social media, in which Zfancy was alleged to have committed heinous crimes, including rape. These videos caused significant apprehension among social media users.”

Zfancy later claimed the videos were scripted and part of his attempt to regain the spotlight after a break. However, the police emphasized that such actions have serious implications and cannot be taken lightly.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who released the statement, also warned other pranksters and content creators against creating content that could threaten public safety. He added: “The Police therefore warn pranksters and content creators to be law-abiding and be conscious of pranks and content that could pose threats to the public and jeopardize the general security of our country.”
