Portable Blasts Top Afrobeats Stars for Blocking New Talent

The “Zazu” singer accuses Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy of stifling the industry’s growth and misleading younger artists.

In a fiery social media rant, controversial singer Portable has taken aim at Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats stars. He directly accused the dominant quartet of Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, and Burna Boy of hindering the rise of other musicians and setting an unhealthy example for the next generation.

Portable lamented that the four superstars have “been at the top for over 10 years and [are] blocking the way for other artistes to come up.” He argued that their long-standing dominance is creating a bottleneck in the industry, making it harder for fresh talent to break through to the highest levels.

Beyond their market share, Portable also criticized their public displays of wealth, which he claims are often deceptive. “They also lie a lot,” he said. “They can say they bought a chain for 1 billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free.” This behavior, he contends, puts immense and unfair pressure on up-and-coming artists who feel they must match that extravagant image.

The singer issued a plea for change, urging his famous colleagues to stop showcasing their riches in a way that burdens younger musicians. He vowed to continue calling them out if they refuse to alter their approach, signaling he is not backing down from the confrontation.

The video has sparked immediate debate online, with fans and observers split on whether Portable’s claims have merit or are simply the latest outburst from a known provocateur.
