Shift in Strategy as Paris Saint-Germain Prepares for New Season
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has decided to end negotiations with Napoli for striker Victor Osimhen, shifting focus to their existing attacking lineup for the upcoming season. Sources reveal that PSG is confident in the talents of current strikers Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, believing they possess some of the world’s best offensive players.
Despite rumors suggesting stalled negotiations, PSG has confirmed that talks are now “definitely dead.” The club deems Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen, set at €130 million by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, as excessively high. Additionally, PSG’s potential acquisition of João Neves from Benfica is expected to further strengthen their squad, eliminating the need for another striker.
Initially interested in the Nigerian striker, PSG opted not to pursue further discussions after considering the financial demands. While they appreciate Osimhen’s abilities, the Parisian club has no plans to resume negotiations.
With PSG stepping back, Arsenal is now reportedly considering an approach for Osimhen. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have re-entered talks with Napoli in recent days, exploring a potential move for the prolific attacker.
Napoli, meanwhile, is looking to sell Osimhen to facilitate the acquisition of Romelu Lukaku, who is eager to reunite with coach Antonio Conte. The duo previously enjoyed a successful tenure together at Inter Milan.
