Nasser Al-Khelaifi Responds to Real Madrid’s Statement, Expresses Confidence in Mbappe’s Ongoing PSG Leadership
In the midst of swirling rumors surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has responded to the Spanish club’s official statement denying negotiations with the French superstar.
Real Madrid Clarifies Stand
Over the weekend, Real Madrid released an official statement addressing the speculations about Mbappe joining their ranks in the upcoming summer transfer window. The statement vehemently denied any ongoing negotiations with the PSG forward, emphasizing that the information circulating in various media outlets was entirely false.
“Given the information recently issued and published by different media outlets, in which there is speculation about alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club, Real Madrid CF would like to state that this information is completely false and that no such negotiations have taken place with a player who belongs to PSG,” the official statement read.
PSG President Unfazed
In response to Real Madrid’s official stance, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed indifference, stating that he hadn’t seen their statement. He emphasized the club’s focus on their own affairs, stating to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Hadrien Grenier), “We’re all focused on ourselves and our football, not on others.”
Confidence in Mbappe’s Leadership
Speaking about Mbappe’s future with PSG, especially with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Al-Khelaifi highlighted the forward’s achievements and positive impact on the team. “Kylian continues to achieve great things, and maybe people take him for granted, but nobody has played two World Cup finals and even scored a hat-trick,” he remarked. Al-Khelaifi reiterated his belief in Mbappe as the best in the world and praised his influence on PSG and France, stating, “He’s having a positive effect on our young people, helping us to build our future.”
Real Madrid’s Pursuit and Competition
Despite Real Madrid distancing themselves officially, reports suggest that they are keen on signing Mbappe next summer, ready to make a significant effort to secure his services. PSG, on the other hand, is actively trying to convince Mbappe to extend his contract, with Liverpool also expressing interest in the French international. However, Al-Khelaifi remains steadfast in his confidence that Mbappe will continue to lead PSG into the future.
