President’s son clarifies he was not behind a reported ₦20 million donation to Sarah Martins, distancing himself from any action that “undermines” Lagos state regulations.
Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, has publicly denied donating ₦20 million to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins, directly contradicting her online claims and emphasizing that he does not support activities that break Lagos State laws.
The denial, issued via his Instagram story on Friday, comes after Martins announced a massive donation from the “office of the President’s son” to her Golden Heart Foundation. She had stated the funds were to help her secure a proper shop after being arrested for a street cooking charity.
Seyi Tinubu offered a different account. He explained that he was informed some of his friends, “moved by compassion,” had raised money to help a woman who had an “encounter with the law.” While he appreciated their kind intentions, he drew a firm line.
“Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law,” he wrote. “That said, I must emphasise that… I do not support any act that violates the laws of Lagos State.”
He stressed that empathy and patriotism must go hand in hand, adding that support for those in need must be done “responsibly,” without breaking the rules that bind the community.

This clarification follows a turbulent week for the actress, who claimed she was harassed by Lagos environmental officials, who disrupted her charity outreach and confiscated her equipment for cooking on a public road median.
The Lagos State Government has stood by its officials, with Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab stating that while charity is appreciated, it cannot come at the expense of public safety and traffic laws. Seyi Tinubu’s statement now aligns with this official position, separating him from the financial endorsement the actress had publicly celebrated.
