Socialite E-Money Regains Freedom After EFCC Detention Over Currency Abuse Allegations

Businessman Thanks Fans for Support Following Brief Arrest, Cubana Chief Priest Celebrates His Release

Popular Lagos businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, widely known as E-Money, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being detained for questioning over alleged abuse of the naira and foreign currency.

The flamboyant celebrity was arrested at his Omole residence in Lagos on Monday evening and taken to Abuja for interrogation. However, by Tuesday evening, he was freed and took to Instagram to reassure his fans, writing: “No tension, everywhere good, I see all your love and support. God bless you all.”

Fellow socialite Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, also celebrated the news, posting on Instagram: “My brother don fall out. To God be the glory.”

The EFCC has recently intensified its crackdown on naira abuse, targeting high-profile individuals in a bid to enforce financial regulations. E-Money’s arrest and swift release have sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning the agency’s approach while others support stricter currency laws.

For now, the socialite is back to his usual lifestyle, but the incident serves as a reminder of the EFCC’s growing scrutiny of celebrities and business figures in financial cases.
