Reality star condemns “hypocritical” religious justification after N30 million raised for cancer-stricken Aunty Esther, calling the decision “pure madness.”
A major controversy has erupted online after popular vendor Aunty Esther, who is battling breast cancer, reportedly refused a crucial blood transfusion—a decision fellow social media personality Tacha has fiercely criticized as reckless and hypocritical.
The situation began when Aunty Esther, a well-known figure on X for her persistent business promotions, revealed her cancer diagnosis and her choice to pursue “natural” treatment. In a massive show of support, sympathetic users rallied, raising over 30 million Naira for her medical care and urging her to accept modern treatments.
The mood shifted dramatically, however, when handlers of the donated funds disclosed that Esther had declined a necessary blood transfusion at the hospital. The revelation sparked widespread outrage and confusion across the platform.
Weighing in forcefully, former Big Brother Naija star Tacha offered a blistering take. She ridiculed the decision, framing it not as religious conviction but as self-destructive folly.
“Honestly y’all, if somebody wants to die, I don’t see the argument. You people should allow the person die,” Tacha wrote. “This isn’t about religious belief. It’s just pure madness.”
She expressed no surprise at Esther’s choice, citing years of what she called reckless and empathy-deficient behavior on social media. “Even when there’s a serious issue or a family mourning on Twitter, she’ll be there advertising her business with no empathy,” Tacha added.
Tacha saved her harshest criticism for the religious justification often cited for rejecting transfusions, calling its adherents “big hypocrites.”
“Isn’t it funny how your religion allows you to lie? Listen! If you can lie, you can steal and cheat. Your religion permits all that but won’t allow a blood transfusion to save your OWN life??” she argued.
Concluding with a pragmatic plea, Tacha suggested the raised funds—which she said could save 50 to 100 lives in Nigeria—should be redirected. “Just channel the funds to people who want to live, and let those who want to die do so in peace.”
