Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado Announce Re-union For New Single

Sixteen years after their chart-topping collaboration “Give It to Me” dominated the Billboard Hot 100, the powerhouse trio of Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado are reuniting for an eagerly awaited brand new single. On Wednesday, August 23, music producer Timbaland sent waves of excitement through the music world as he shared a teaser video across his social media platforms, officially announcing their collaborative return.

The Instagram post was accompanied by Timbaland’s caption, “WE BACK,” along with a flurry of emojis depicting peeking eyes and exploding heads. The iconic music producer declared, “Da king has returned!” The teaser clip commences with the words “The time has come” boldly displayed on the screen, transitioning to a snippet from a previous Timbaland-Furtado performance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Evocative video fragments and headlines documenting Timbaland’s career evolution and his close relationships with both Furtado and Timberlake unfold, culminating in the eagerly awaited announcement of the song’s release date. Music enthusiasts can anticipate the trio’s new single, produced by Timbaland, Furtado, and Timberlake, to drop on September 1. The title of the upcoming single remains a tantalizing secret.

Timbaland’s excitement was further evident as he shared the teaser on his Instagram Story, adding, “Watch me work, da king is back. Album [in] Nov.” This upcoming album, still untitled, will mark Timbaland’s return since his 2009 release “Shock Value II,” which peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard 200 chart. Both Timberlake and Furtado mirrored Timbaland’s enthusiasm by sharing the teaser on their respective Instagram Stories, complete with eye emojis; Furtado added a raising hand emoji to her story.

Timbaland’s  big announcement comes just one month after he delighted fans with an Instagram post showing him and Timberlake engaged in a FaceTime call with Furtado. The interaction took place while the two music icons collaborated on Timberlake’s highly anticipated sixth studio album. Timbaland captioned the post, “Da dream team.”

All three artists have showcased their individual artistry this year. In March, Timbaland joined forces with rapper BIA for a compelling collaboration titled “I’m That Bitch.” Nelly Furtado, in June, released her first lead single in five years, “Eat Your Man,” featuring Dom Dolla. The track soared to No. 15 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. In July, Justin Timberlake left his mark on the remix of Coco Jones’ “ICU,” which climbed to No. 62 on the Hot 100, without crediting the “Mirrors” singer. As anticipation builds for their upcoming joint single, fans can’t help but be swept up in the excitement of the long-awaited reunion of these musical luminaries.
