Tiwa Savage Opens Up About Love, Says She’s Ready to Be a Second Wife

The Nigerian music superstar reveals a surprising new openness to polygamy, citing the challenges of finding an unmarried partner her age.

In a candid and revealing interview, Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has shared a personal shift in her perspective on marriage, stating she is now open to the idea of becoming a second wife. The superstar explained that her current reality in the dating world has led her to this unexpected conclusion.

While appearing as a guest on the American podcast Air Service, Savage reflected on the limited options she encounters. “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married,” she said. “So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife.”

The singer, who was previously married to music executive Tunji “TBillz” Balogun from 2013 to 2018, was quick to assure potential partners that she would be a harmonious presence in a polygamous household. She painted a picture of a low-maintenance and respectful dynamic, suggesting her busy career would be an asset.

“I think I can go along with the first wife and she’s going to love me because I’m not going to be troublesome,” Savage elaborated. “I’m going to be going on tours, I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect.”

The marriage between Savage and Balogun, with whom she shares a son, ended in a highly publicized separation where both parties accused the other of infidelity. Her latest comments mark a new chapter in her public journey navigating love and relationships.
