Transfer Gossip: Kimmich’s Transfer Saga Takes a Turn: Liverpool and Man City Enter the Mix

Bayern Munich Vice-Captain Linked to Premier League Giants as Contract Talks Stall

The transfer saga surrounding Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has taken an intriguing twist as the January window enters its final week. Initially linked with Newcastle, Kimmich’s camp has now brought Liverpool and Manchester City into the conversation, adding fuel to the contract negotiation fire.

Kimmich, a pivotal figure for Bayern and vice-captain, finds himself in the last 18 months of his contract. Negotiations for an extension have been slow, and the addition of Liverpool and City to the mix could complicate matters for the Bavarian club. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is also reportedly in the race for the German midfielder’s signature.

Meanwhile, Everton has reportedly made Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana available for a hefty price tag. The Toffees are open to parting ways with Onana for a fee in the region of £60 million. Newcastle, expressing interest in the player, had hoped for a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but Everton is cautious about such a structure. Arsenal is also monitoring the 22-year-old, who joined Everton from Lille in 2022.

In Manchester United’s camp, the need for a striker has become more apparent with Anthony Martial set to miss the next two months due to groin surgery. Despite this, the Red Devils seem determined to proceed with Rasmus Hojlund as their sole center-forward for the remainder of the season. The Times reports that Martial’s injury has disrupted plans to sell him this month, with Mason Greenwood emerging as United’s potential key asset for significant offers. Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe, is part of a group of academy graduates that could fetch the club £100 million in pure profit, helping them navigate Financial Fair Play regulations.
