Transfer gossip: Liverpool eye Prem pair among midfield quartet to follow £16.2m done deal

Liverpool are close to completing the signing of one midfielder and they are linked with four more. Also: half of the Big Six have been boosted by Barcelona’s stance…

VILLA, PALACE BRACED FOR LIVERPOOL INTEREST
The hot topic remains Liverpool’s engine room and the many midfielders they seem to be turning to after being blown out by Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia for reasons that have made John Aldridge’s head fall off.

It seems the Reds are close to getting one through the door. Widespread reports suggest they have agreed a £16.2million deal with Stuttgart for Japan international Wataru Endo. The 30-year-old, who has one year left on his contract in Germany, has been given permission to head to Anfield to undergo a medical.

Jurgen Klopp isn’t done there, though. It was claimed yesterday that he wants to hijack Manchester United’s move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who has been patiently waiting for the Red Devils to get their sh*t together.

The Daily Mail says Klopp’s interest has also been rekindled in Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, who made only Bundesliga starts last season after moving to Bavaria from Ajax a year ago.

Closer to home, Liverpool are reported by The Independent to be ready to make a decisive move for Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure, while Foot Mercato says Aston Villa are ready to fend off Klopp’s interest in Boubacar Kamara.

MAN UTD, ARSENAL, SPURS ENCOURAGED OVER BARCA STARLET
‘Ansu Fati decides to leave Barca’ is the AS headline, with the Daily Mail taking it upon themselves to list three Premier League big-hitters keen to land the ‘jewel of La Masia’.

Fati seems to have taken the hint after being told by Xavi weeks ago that his best option to move on. The forward, though, wanted to stay and prove himself but that stance has changed after pre-season and the first match of Barca’s La Liga title defence.

Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation, while Atletico Madrid were also linked but AS says the Rojiblancos has offered no suggestion they will move for the Spain international.

CITY COULD RETURN TO LEIPZIG FOR OLMO
Manchester City added another trophy to their collection last night, and Pep Guardiola would like to sign one more midfielder before the end of the transfer window.

Guardiola has been keen to bring Lucas Paqueta from West Ham, but the Hammers are demanding big money to allow the Brazilian to leave this summer.

So City are said to be considering switching their focus to Dani Olmo. The Spain international upstaged Harry Kane last Saturday by scoring a hat-trick on the England striker’s Bayern Munich debut. Sky Sport Germany says the Champions League winners are monitoring Olmo, but RB Leipzig are reluctant to do business unless City offer silly money.
