Transfer Gossip: Man Utd and Liverpool midfield panic sends them to Bayern, Crystal Palace and PSG

Liverpool and Manchester United are both in talks with Bayern Munich about Ryan Gravenberch but they are both eyeing a more expensive option.

TALKS GET ‘PRODUCTIVE’ FOR LIVERPOOL
‘Liverpool have held more productive talks with Bayern Munich over midfielder Ryan Gravenberch,’ says the Daily Mail’s transfer man Simon Jones. He does not mention any other clubs being interested in the Dutchman but Fabrizio Romano says elsewhere: ‘This week, Man United made a call to be informed on the situation regarding Ryan Gravenberch at Bayern, as well as Liverpool.

‘At the moment Bayern don’t want to give the green light for the player to leave, but in case this changes both clubs are informed. United are also still there on Sofyan Amrabat, but it’s also important for them to sell Donny van de Beek.’

Liverpool do not have all their midfield irons in one fire, with the Mail also claiming that talks have taken place with Crystal Palace about Cheick Doucoure, though it’s thought that the price tag on the Mali international might be pushing towards the prohibitive £70m mark.

VERRATTI TO MAN UTD NEXT?
Now this is interesting. According to L’Equipe, both Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both shown an interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, who is free to leave the French capital after 11 years. Well, when we say ‘free’, we mean ‘for about £50m’, which seems a little steep for a 30-year-old that PSG do not want.

This potential move comes five years after Ed Woodward recommended both Verratti and Raphael Varane has new signings but Jose Mourinho believed them both to be out of reach and signed Fred instead for £52m.

And the fly in the ointment is of course interest from Al Ahli, with Verratti already said to have a deal in place;Al Hilal have already walked away from a possible deal because of that asking price.

MAN UTD TARGET KEEPER
Manchester United are exploring a move to sign Benfica and Greece goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos, reports Fabrizio Romano.

With current second-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson linked with both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, United are seemingly looking at Vlachodimos, who was born in Germany, moved to Greece, but has now spent the last five years in Portugal.
