Transfer gossip: Man Utd, City ready part-ex offers for Declan Rice as Spurs swoop for keeper

Arsenal might want to get a wriggle on before United and City attempt to beat them to Declan Rice by offering England and Scotland internationals in part-exchange…

UNITED, CITY OFFER PART-EX DEALS FOR RICE
It seemed like Declan Rice joining Arsenal was almost a formality once the West Ham midfielder had completed his international duty with England on Monday. The Gunners have failed with one offer but it was anticipated that a second bid that was to be submitted this week that would satisfy the Hammers and their demand for at least £100million to sell their skipper.

But Manchester United and Manchester City might not be out of the running just yet. United are trying to sign Rice’s mate, Mason Mount, and they want to reunite the former Chelsea academy pair at Old Trafford by offering West Ham a cash-plus-player deal.

The Telegraph says United are set to offer the Hammers either Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay plus a truck-load of cash. Talksport suggests McTominay could be of interest to David Moyes, with the Scotland midfielder an Irons target regardless of where Rice ends up.

Which could still be City. The Treble winners are set to sign Mateo Kovacic but, with Ilkay Gundogan on his way to Barcelona, Pep Guardiola wants another midfielder and he could offer Kalvin Phillips, even if the England midfielder has spoken of his desire to remain at City.

SPURS SWOOP FOR NEW STOPPER
Tottenham appear to be closing in on a new goalkeeper and possibly a centre-back…

With Hugo Lloris set to leave after 11 years in the Spurs sticks, Ange Postecoglu needs a new stopper. The club have agreed personal terms with David Raya but remain adamant they won’t pay the £40million Brentford want to sell the Spain international.

Italy call-up Guglielmo Vicario is more in their price range. Sky Sports says Spurs have agreed a £17.2million deal with Empoli for the 26-year-old, while Fabrizio Romano says personal terms have been agreed too.

Romano also reckons Tottenham are looking at Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who has decided to leave Craven Cottage. Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba is a possible target too as Postecoglu looks to remodel his defence.

TOON TARGET TONALI, RUBEN NEVES
Plenty happening at Newcastle, with Sandro Tonali expected to join the Magpies in the coming days.

The Athletic says the AC Milan midfielder is the subject of a £60million offer, while Fabrizio Romano says the salary over a six-year contract is ‘really huge’.

Tonali could be joined at St James’ Park by Ruben Neves if the Wolves midfielder is immediately loaned out by Al Hilal. Football really is f***ed.
