Transfer Gossip: Manchester United’s Summer Transfer Plans Unveiled: Three Potential Swoops on the Horizon

Red Devils Eyeing Moves for Zirkzee, De Ligt, and Araujo, While Newcastle Star Draws Interest from PSG

As the winter transfer window unfolds, Manchester United is already setting its sights on potential summer reinforcements, with three high-profile names in the mix for a move to Old Trafford.

According to reports from Sky Sports Germany, the Red Devils are contemplating summer swoops for Bologna striker Josh Zirkzee, Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt, and Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo.

In Zirkzee’s case, United inquired about a January deal but was met with a firm response from Bologna, indicating that the 22-year-old is not available until the end of the season. However, a summer move could be on the cards, with the buy-out clause in his contract set at approximately £34.5 million. Arsenal is also reportedly interested in the prolific striker, who boasts eight goals and four assists for Bologna this season.

The rumour mill suggests that United might also turn their attention to Bayern Munich’s De Ligt. The Dutch centre-back has found regular playing time elusive under Thomas Tuchel, starting only five games in the Bundesliga and Champions League combined. Should his situation at Bayern not improve, a summer move could be on the horizon, especially considering his previous connection with United’s current manager Erik ten Hag from their Ajax days.

On the defensive front, United faces competition for Barcelona’s Araujo, who has reportedly emerged as a ‘top target’ for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. Despite being quoted a hefty January price tag of £69 million, United and PSG are said to be undeterred, with both clubs still eyeing a potential move for the talented Uruguay defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.

In a separate development, Premier League trio Crystal Palace, Everton, and West Ham, along with Serie A giants Juventus, are now in contention for Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips. Newcastle’s financial constraints have ruled them out of the race, with Manchester City’s loan fee demands reportedly scuppering any hopes of securing Phillips for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old England international now has a host of suitors, including the aforementioned Premier League clubs and Italian giants Juventus.
