Transfer gossip: Man Utd not finished after €85m deal as Saudis eye ambitious Mbappe alternative

Manchester United will pursue another midfielder after agreeing to sign Rasmus Hojlund. Also: the Saudis have their eyes on Victor Osimhen after failing to convince Kylian Mbappe…

FROM HOJLUND TO AMRABAT
It was widely reported on Saturday that Manchester United agreed to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund for €75m plus €10m in add-ons. This is a big signing for Erik ten Hag, who has got himself a new No. 9, No. 1 and dynamic midfielder, filling gaping holes in his team before the domestic season kicks off.

And after the Hojlund signing, the Dutch manager will reportedly go after Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Fabrizio Romano says Hojlund has always been United’s ‘priority’ but now a deal has been agreed with Atalanta, they can focus on the Moroccan international, who is ‘keen on the move’ to Old Trafford.

OSIMHEN TO SAUDI ARABIA?
The Saudis are obviously a bit hurt after failing to convince Kylian Mbappe and have now turned their attention to another player who should (we are not saying he will) snub a move to the middle east.

Earlier this week, L’Equipe correspondent Loic Tanzi said Al-Hilal would go after Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and the French journalist revealed on Saturday evening that the Saudi Pro League outfit have ‘begun notifications’ to prise the Nigerian international from Naples. Of course, this is a ‘complex dossier, but the Saudis are trying’.

Osimhen will cost an absolute fortune, though the £150m+ Napoli are expected to seek will not exactly burn a hole in any pockets at the PIF headquarters.

VILLA WANT FREE AGENT ADAMA
Aston Villa mean business. The signings of Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans put them in a very strong position to win the Europa Conference League and finish in the top eight in the Premier League. And they are not done it would seem.

Adama Traore – now a free agent following the expiry of his Wolves contract – is Unai Emery’s next target, according to Football Insider.

The Spanish international played for Villa in 2015/16 and you would expect him to be very open on a return to Birmingham. The report says the Molineux outfit have put a contract offer on the table, though it is a lower salary than the deal they offered the player two years ago.

ROMA ‘AGREE’ TO SIGN WEST HAM FLOP
After a disappointing debut season in the Premier League, Gianluca Scamacca looks likely to return to Italy and Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma have apparently made him a top target with Tammy Abraham out injured for a while.

Italian outlet Calciomercato reckon Roma and Scamacca have a ‘total agreement’ and the former Sassuolo star will be returning to his home country sooner than expected.

The report says West Ham had hoped to recoup the €36m they paid to sign Scamacca but have now agreed to let him join the Giallorossi on loan for €4-5m, with the obligation to buy for €22m if they qualify for the Champions League.

With the player well up for the move, Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto is set to fly over to London to ‘smooth over’ some details and ‘close the deal’.
