Manchester United hope to capitalise on tension between Marco Veratti and PSG, while Liverpool have competition for at least two of their alternatives to Jude Bellingham…
UNITED KEEN ON VERRATTI SWOOP
Changes are afoot at PSG this summer. Lionel Messi will leave the club and, if the supporters get their way, Neymar will follow him. The Parisians are looking to go in a different direction which, apparently, doesn’t impress Marco Verratti. Which could present an opportunity for Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the Italy midfielder and, according to Fichajes, the United boss wants to pair the 30-year-old with Casemiro in his engine room.
Verratti wouldn’t come cheap. Despite his discontent, the former Pescara star signed a new contract with PSG back in December which ties him to the club until 2026.
VILLANS EYE £120M DUO
Aston Villa are making big plans for this summer, buoyed by Unai Emery’s fine work and a possible place in Europe next season.
The Villans are expected to spend big, with Football Insider reporting that they are lining up a raid on Juventus for Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic is expected to move on again, just 18 months after moving to Turin. Arsenal are interested and Real Madrid have also been linked, but Villa are looking to tempt the Serbia striker to the Midlands.
They also want to bring Joao Palhinha from Fulham. The Portugal midfielder has been a revelation in the Cottagers’ midfield since arriving from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
Liverpool, Tottenham, Man Utd, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all known to be keen on Palhinha, who is valued at £60million by Fulham. Which Villa are quite willing to pay as they look to smash their transfer record as a statement of intent.
CITY TO RVIAL LIVERPOOL FOR BAYERN STAR
Palhinha is one of the many alternatives that Liverpool have in mind after pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham. Manchester City remain interested in the Borussia Dortmund star but, with Real Madrid the firm favourites to land Bellingham, they too are having to consider other options.
Among them is said to be Ryan Gravenberch. The Netherlands midfielder has struggled to to establish himself in Bayern Munich’s midfield since moving to Bavaria from Ajax last summer and could be on the move again.
His struggles at Bayern haven’t put off Liverpool and the Mirror says City also reckon he could thrive in the Premier League. Gravenberch is open to a switch, though City and Liverpool would have to cough up £200,000 per week just to match the 20-year-old’s current net salary. But it is thought Bayern would be willing to sell if they can recoup the £16.3million they paid a year ago, which could represent a bargain for Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp.
