Transfer gossip: Spurs eye Arsenal striker to replace Kane as Liverpool seek Caicedo alternatives

Tottenham might not have to look too far for Harry Kane’s replacement if Arsenal will do business with them. And Liverpool are pondering their next move after being blown out by Moises Caicedo…

SPURS TO BID FOR BALOGUN?
Harry Kane was an Arsenal cast-off, and Tottenham could look across north London to their derby rivals for a replacement for their now-departed record goalscorer.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Folarin Balogun is one of the contenders to fill Kane’s shooting boots at Spurs. Arsenal have made Balogun available as they look to recoup some cash after being the biggest spenders in Europe so far this summer. At least until Chelsea seal their £115million deal for Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners want in the region of £47million for the forward who scored 22 goals on loan at Reims last season. Inter Milan were keen – but not at that price. Apparently, Spurs are sniffing, with Romelu Lukaku and Porto’s Mehdi Taremi also under consideration. Juventus are also in for Lukaku, and though they have rejected the chance to exchange Dusan Vlahovic for the Belgium striker, talks with Chelsea are continuing.

LIVERPOOL CONSIDER CAICEDO ALTERNATIVES
Chelsea’s capture of Caicedo has forced Liverpool to look elsewhere for a defensive midfielder. The Reds’ Plan B could look very similar to the Blues’…

Chelsea were reported to have made a £55million offer for Romeo Lavia before agreeing to pay double that amount for Caicedo. Liverpool have had three bids turned down by Southampton for the 19-year-old – a situation Jamie Carragher described as ’embarrassing’ – but Talksport says the Merseysiders will match Chelsea’s offer, which is £5million more than Saints were initially demanding.

Liverpool are also being linked with Ibrahim Sangare, though ESPN says they have competition from PSG and Bayern Munich for the PSV star. Sangare was said to be available for around £32million but, if they have anything about them, PSV will have slapped an extra £10million on the asking price while Premier League clubs lose their minds over defensive midfielders.

MAN UTD EYE FRANCE DEFENDER, BELGIUM MIDFIELDER
Manchester United haven’t yet managed to shove Harry Maguire through the exit door but they are making plans for how to spend the £30million West Ham intend to give them for the England centre-back.

Sky Sports says United want to transfer the cash straight to Bayern Munich in return for Benjamin Pavard. And the France defender is similarly keen to make the move – but Bayern have rejected the Red Devils’ initial advances.

Erik ten Hag is also trying to raise funds for one more midfielder, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat waiting patiently for the United boss to make a decisive move. But the Daily Mail suggests Ten Hag could move instead for Amadou Onana. United are currently waiting for Everton to decide upon their valuation of the Belgium international, which is almost certain to be in the region of £50million since it cost the Toffees £33million to sign the 21-year-old from Lille a year ago.
