Transfer Latest: Manchester United Secure Deals for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui

Erik ten Hag Bolsters Defense with Major Signings Amid Summer Transfer Push

Manchester United have reached agreements with Bayern Munich for the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, according to transfer expert David Ornstein.

Throughout the summer, Erik ten Hag’s side has been working on securing De Ligt, and more recently, they targeted Mazraoui as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been made available for transfer.

United have already added 18-year-old center-back Leny Yoro from Lille to their squad, but they remain focused on further strengthening their defense with the acquisition of De Ligt. Additionally, the club has had two bids rejected by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite, as new Red Devils owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe shows no intention of meeting Everton’s £70 million asking price.

After finalizing the signings of Yoro and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee for a combined £88 million, Manchester United have reportedly agreed to deals worth €70 million (£60 million) in total to bring De Ligt and Mazraoui to Old Trafford. De Ligt’s transfer is set at €50 million, including add-ons, while Mazraoui’s deal is valued at €20 million, also including add-ons.

Ornstein, writing for The Athletic, also reports that Wan-Bissaka will depart for West Ham in a £15 million deal, with a medical for Mazraoui expected to take place on Sunday or Monday.

De Ligt is expected to sign a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.

More details are expected to follow as these high-profile transfers progress.
