Transfer Rumours: Zirkzee Pushes for January Move to Roma, Report Claims

Manchester United Forward Reportedly Says ‘Yes’ to Serie A Return in £35m Deal

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is actively seeking a January transfer to AS Roma, according to a report from the Manchester Evening News.

The Dutch striker is said to be enthusiastic about a return to Serie A and has already held positive talks with the Italian club’s management.

Per the report, which cites Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee has had “a number of discussions and contacts” with Roma’s sporting director Ricky Massara and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The conversations have apparently progressed to the point where the 22-year-old has “promised” himself to the Giallorossi, giving a firm ‘yes’ to the move.

The proposed deal is understood to be an initial loan with an obligation for Roma to make the transfer permanent for a fee of around £35 million at the end of the season. The move is anticipated for mid-January, coinciding with the return of several Roma players from the Africa Cup of Nations.

For Manchester United, who are believed to be prioritizing midfield reinforcements next month, Zirkzee’s potential departure would open a slot in the attack, raising questions about which striker might be brought in as his replacement at Old Trafford.
