Tyla Reveals Delay in Debut Album Release, Credits Tems for Last-Minute Contribution

South African Songstress Opens Up on Collaboration with Nigerian Singer

South African singer and songwriter, Tyla, recently shed light on the unexpected delay in the release of her highly anticipated debut album, “Tyla,” attributing it to a last-minute collaboration with Nigerian sensation, Tems.

Having meticulously crafted her debut album over the span of nearly three years, Tyla revealed that the final moments before its submission were unexpectedly prolonged due to Tems’ spontaneous contribution.

The track in question, titled “NO 1,” received a surprise verse from Tems just as Tyla was preparing to submit her project to her record label. Reflecting on this pivotal moment during an interview, Tyla expressed her admiration for Tems, affectionately referring to her as the “Queen” of African music. Tyla’s deep respect for Tems prompted her to prioritize incorporating Tems’ contribution into the album, leading to a slight delay in its release as she awaited the arrival of Tems’ verse.

Despite the delay caused by Tems’ late addition, Tyla maintained a gracious attitude towards the acclaimed Nigerian superstar. She underscored the significance of Tems’ inclusion in the project, highlighting her profound admiration for the artist’s musical talent.

Finally, after overcoming the delay, Tyla’s self-titled debut album, “Tyla,” was unveiled last Friday, featuring a diverse collection of 14 tracks that chronicle her personal journey and artistic evolution over the past few years.
