Victor Osimhen Eyes Chelsea Move as Summer Transfer Battle Heats Up

Nigerian Striker’s Premier League Dream Alive, But Wages Could Complicate Deal

Victor Osimhen is determined to make Chelsea his next destination, according to Nigeria legend John Obi Mikel—but the Napoli striker’s high wage demands could still scupper the move.

Osimhen, 26, came agonizingly close to joining the Blues last summer before the deal collapsed, forcing him into a loan spell at Galatasaray. Now, with Napoli ready to sell, Chelsea are considering reigniting their interest as they hunt for a top-tier striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

However, Mikel warns that while Osimhen’s “heart is set” on Stamford Bridge, his salary expectations may price out most Premier League clubs—potentially leaving Saudi Arabia as the only viable option.

“He wants to play for Chelsea,” Mikel revealed on beIN Sports. “The groundwork from last summer’s talks is already done—it could be an easy deal to finalize.”

But if Chelsea hesitate, rivals Manchester United and Arsenal could swoop in. Osimhen’s stellar form in Turkey—31 goals in 36 games—has kept his value high, with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) at €68.9 million.

With Enzo Maresca also eyeing alternatives like Benjamin Šeško and Hugo Ekitike, the race for Osimhen’s signature is set to be one of the summer’s biggest sagas. Will he finally land in the Premier League, or will financial hurdles steer him elsewhere?
