The Nigerian singer opens up about his preference for platonic connections, following speculation about a recent high-profile breakup.
Nigerian music star Young Jonn has candidly revealed that he is intentionally stepping back from serious romantic commitments, prioritizing platonic relationships as he focuses on his career and personal growth.
The 30-year-old “Xtra Cool” hitmaker made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the ‘Way Up’ podcast with host Angela Yee. He explained that while he believes “everybody loves love,” he is currently in a phase of his life where he cannot dedicate the necessary time and energy to a committed partnership.
“I’m not really in that space where I can give so much of me to one person,” Young Jonn expressed. “So, I’m just keeping it platonic with everybody… I feel like I won’t be able to give that person as much as I’m supposed to. So why put them in that situation?”
His honest comments arrive amid speculation about his romantic life. Earlier this year, the singer was rumored to be in a relationship with Adenike Adeleke, popularly known as Nikos Living and a cousin of superstar Davido. The speculation began when the pair shared affectionate photos together on social media in early 2024.
However, those rumors were fueled further in recent weeks as fans noticed the two had unfollowed each other online and deleted their joint photos, suggesting a possible split.
By stating his current preference for friendship over romance, Young Jonn has offered a transparent explanation for his relationship status, assuring fans that his choice is a matter of self-awareness rather than a lack of interest in connection.
