Despite efforts to mount a comeback, Bayern’s hopes were dashed when Dayot Upamecano received a red card late in the game, marking his second dismissal in as many matches. Bochum capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Kevin Stoger converting a penalty in the 85th minute. Although Harry Kane pulled one back for Bayern, it was too little, too late.
With this defeat, Bayern finds themselves eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, whose remarkable league campaign continues with a 2-1 victory over Heidenheim.
