BBNaija Winner Phyna Rejects N13M Offer from Quidax, Demands Fulfillment of Promises (Video)

Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna and the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has garnered attention yet again, this time for turning down a substantial N13 million offer from Quidax, one of the reality show’s sponsors. Phyna’s decision comes amidst ongoing criticism of sponsors and organizers for failing to deliver complete prizes promised to winners.

The controversy stems from Quidax’s initial pledge to award Phyna one Bitcoin as part of her prize package after her victory in 2022. However, despite the passage of two years, the cryptocurrency has not been delivered to her, prompting Phyna to publicly call out the sponsors and demand fulfillment of their commitments.

Following Phyna’s vocal dissatisfaction, representatives from Quidax recently met with the reality star and offered her the N13 million sum, which they claimed was equivalent to one Bitcoin’s value in 2022. In response, Phyna firmly rejected the monetary offer and insisted on receiving the actual Bitcoin, citing its current market value of over N90 million.

In an audio clip shared on social media, Phyna outlined her demands, including the fulfillment of her promised trip for two to the Maldives, which was part of her rewards from the reality show. She emphasized that she would not settle for alternative destinations like Kenya or Morocco, as she expects the sponsors to honor their original commitment.

Phyna highlighted the discrepancy in Bitcoin’s value, noting that while Quidax offered N13 million based on the 2022 rate, Bitcoin’s market price has significantly appreciated since then. She expressed frustration at the delay in receiving her prizes, pointing out that had she received one Bitcoin in 2022, it would have amounted to approximately N96 million today.

The situation has sparked discussions online, with many supporting Phyna’s stance and urging sponsors to uphold their promises to winners of the reality show. As the issue gains traction, stakeholders are keenly observing how Quidax and other sponsors will respond to Phyna’s demands for full prize fulfillment.
