Manchester United defender Phil Jones will reportedly finally be leaving the club on a free transfer this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The former England international has become something of a forgotten man at Old Trafford in recent times, having barely featured in the last few years after some difficulties with injuries and a general loss of form.
Things certainly haven’t panned out as many would have expected for Jones when he first joined Man Utd as a youngster, when he looked like a huge prospect and was tipped for a big future by Sir Alex Ferguson.
It now surely makes sense for Jones to move on, and Romano seems to have confirmed that he’s going to be released by the Red Devils…

It will be interesting to see where Jones ends up next, but one imagines there might not be a huge amount of interest in the Premier League, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he perhaps dropped down a division, or moved abroad to a less competitive league.
The 31-year-old has made over 200 appearances for United, but has played just six Premier League games in the last four seasons.
