Erik ten Hag Under Fire as Manchester United Legends Call for Sack!

Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes Criticize Ten Hag’s Leadership Following Defeat

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has come under heavy criticism from club legends Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes following the team’s 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, adding to the growing pressure on the Dutchman.

The scathing comments from Sheringham and Scholes surfaced after another disappointing performance by United, continuing a challenging 2024 season for Ten Hag and his squad.

Despite missing several key players due to injuries, Ten Hag’s chosen starting lineup failed to deliver against Palace, leading to questions about his leadership and the team’s overall direction.

Sheringham, speaking to Genting Casino, did not mince words in his assessment of Ten Hag, stating, “If your leader, the manager, is not leading in the right way, other people follow that standard. Ten Hag isn’t leading from the front. He doesn’t have the personality required to take Manchester United forward. It’s all a little bit dreary.”

The former forward criticized Ten Hag’s comments about the club’s performance, labeling them as delusional and suggesting that the manager’s demeanor and communication style are not conducive to motivating the team.

Echoing similar sentiments, Scholes, speaking on Premier League Productions, expressed disappointment in the team’s lack of effort and know-how during the Palace match. He hinted that Ten Hag’s chances of remaining in his role under the new INEOS ownership are diminishing rapidly.

“Tonight felt like the final nail in the coffin,” Scholes remarked. “There was a lack of know-how from the team, a lack of effort which is the big disappointing thing. It just doesn’t feel like Ten Hag’s time is extending under the new owners.”
