Kano State Government Reclaims Trillions of Naira Worth of Land through Demolition Exercises

The Kano State Government, headed by Dr. Baffa Bichi, has announced the successful reclamation of land worth trillions of naira following a series of demolition exercises carried out across various locations in the state.

Under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the state government initiated the demolition of structures at several sites, including the Daula Hotel site, Kano Eid Ground, Kwari Market, and Wambai Market, among others.

The government has accused the previous administration of engaging in land-grabbing activities. However, former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has refuted these allegations, dismissing them as baseless and unfounded.

Dr. Bichi recently appeared in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, where he discussed the ongoing demolitions and land reclamation efforts. He highlighted the magnitude of the reclaimed properties, emphasizing their substantial value to the state.

Responding to claims made by an individual that structures worth N129 billion were demolished, Dr. Bichi stated, “We recovered property (land) worth trillions of naira belonging to Kano State that the previous administration misappropriated to themselves and their families. The Eid ground alone is worth trillions of naira. It’s priceless.”

The Kano State Government’s demolition exercises have been a proactive measure to address issues of land-grabbing and regain control over valuable assets. The actions taken by the current administration reflect their commitment to ensuring the proper utilization of state resources and preventing misappropriation.

The ongoing demolition exercises and subsequent land reclamation efforts have garnered significant attention and sparked discussions among residents and stakeholders in Kano State. The government’s determination to recover misappropriated lands and protect the interests of the state remains a focal point of public discourse.
